Depression

Work through mood changes that are affecting your everyday life.

Depressive disorders and Mood disorders are two very different types of experiences. The common feature of Depressive disorders is the presence of sad, empty, or irritable moods, accompanied by cognitive and somatic changes that significantly affect the individual’s capacity to function.

Mood Disorders have some commonality with Depressive disorders, but also significant differences like a mood fluctuation that requires additional elements to treatments that are unique to it.

We provide treatments for these conditions, in which the first step is an assessment.

How we help

We take a personalized approach to treating depression and mood disorders, starting with a thorough understanding of your experience — when it started, what makes it better or worse, and how it’s affecting your daily life.

Treatment typically involves identifying and challenging the thought patterns that keep depression going, gradually rebuilding activities and routines that bring meaning and structure, and developing coping strategies for difficult days.

For some clients, we also explore the role of past experiences, relationships, and unresolved grief.

Approaches we use:

  • CBT

  • DBT

  • ACT

  • Mindfulness

  • Behavioural Activation

You don’t have to manage this alone.
