Trauma
Get the process of natural recovery unstuck with compassionate support.
When terrible events like an accident, assault, or natural disaster happen, trauma is a possible emotional response, which at first can be characterized by shock and denial. After some time, trauma reactions can show as flashbacks, avoidant behaviours, unpredictable emotions, relationship problems, and even physical symptoms amongst other reactions.
These feelings can be considered a normal reaction to an abnormal experience/s, but can also get people stuck and prevent them from having closure with the terrible events. We can help you address these symptoms and move forward.
How we help
We use several evidence-based approaches to trauma treatment, tailored to your specific experience and needs. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer trigger the same intense emotional response.
CBT-based trauma therapy helps you identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs that developed as a result of the trauma.
Throughout treatment, we prioritize your sense of safety and control — you set the pace, and we never push you beyond what you’re ready for.
